National Science Day 2025 Celebration at SGSITS
Theme - Quantum Science and Technology
The Departments of Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, and Applied Mathematics at Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS), Indore, successfully organized National Science Day on 27th February 2025. This grand celebration brought together school and college students to experience the wonders of science through interactive experiments, live demonstrations, and hands-on learning activities.
Engaging Scientific Activities
The event featured a series of exciting experiments and demonstrations, designed to spark curiosity and deepen students' understanding of scientific concepts:
🔬 Acidic Breath – A simple yet effective experiment showcasing how carbon dioxide in exhaled breath interacts with a basic solution, illustrating the principles of acid-base reactions.
⚡ Lemon Battery – A fascinating demonstration of electrochemistry, where students learned how lemons could act as natural batteries to generate electricity through redox reactions.
🔥 Carbon-Sugar Snake – A visually striking experiment demonstrating the exothermic reaction of sugar and sulfuric acid, forming an impressive carbon structure while explaining chemical decomposition and energy release.
🎨 Magic pH Color Change – A hands-on activity that showcased acid-base indicators, where different substances changed color based on their pH, highlighting the science behind pH balance.
🛑 Food Adulteration Test – A crucial experiment that helped students identify adulterants in common food items, raising awareness about food safety and consumer rights.
🌊 Stokes' Law Demonstration – A physics-based experiment illustrating viscosity, drag force, and the motion of small particles in fluids, helping students understand the principles behind fluid dynamics.
Visit to the Sophisticated Instrumentation Laboratory
In addition to these interactive activities, students were given an exclusive opportunity to visit the Sophisticated Instrumentation Laboratory at SGSITS. Here, they explored state-of-the-art analytical instruments used in scientific research and industry applications, gaining valuable insights into advanced technologies and their real-world impact.
