Biomedical Engineering

Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in the year 2001 with an aim to develop manpower in the upcoming field of modern health care industry. It evolved from Electronics and Instrumentation as a specialized degree course in the field of Biomedical engineering for providing specially trained graduates for providing better services in health care instruments as well as to promote research and development of low cost indigenous products.

The department offer an undergraduate course in Biomedical Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 60 students per year and postgraduate course in Biomedical Instrumentation and Signal Processing. The syllabus is carefully designed to meet the requirements of healthcare industries. This course covers both the engineering as well as biological aspects with a special attention towards design, development and implementation of electronic instrumentation for the health care.

It is interdisciplinary in a sense that the student gains sufficient knowledge of nearly all the engineering streams. The department has experienced and trained faculty to impart knowledge in this specialized field. Domain experts are also called for lectures in specialized subjects. The department is in developing stage and the various laboratories are being equipped with modern trainer kits as well as fully functional medical instruments.
