Departmental Club

Preamble
With an objective to foster holistic development, leadership qualities, teamwork, and professional excellence among students of Civil Engineering & Applied Mechanics at SGSITS Indore, the department hereby constitutes various student-driven clubs. These clubs will serve as platforms for extracurricular, co-curricular, and technical engagements, thereby nurturing creativity, innovation, communication, and professional competencies in line with the institute’s vision.

Objectives
- To provide opportunities for students to develop their literary, cultural, technical, and sporting skills.
- To bridge classroom learning with industry practices through technical activities, expert talks, internships, and placements.
- To promote awareness and use of standards, codes, and best practices in civil engineering.
- To encourage teamwork, leadership, ethics, and social responsibility among students.
- To enhance the overall student experience through constructive engagement beyond academics.

1. Structure of Clubs
The following clubs are established under the Department of Civil Engineering & Applied Mechanics:

1.1 Literary Club (M Vishveshvaraya Club)
Faculty Coordinator :- Prof S K Ahirwar, Dr Arti Sahu, Dr Akash Jaiswal

Aim: To develop communication, expression, and documentation skills.


Activities: Newsletter, magazine design, articles, creative writing, debates.
For Example
Departmental newsletter and magazine design.
Articles, blogs, and technical write-ups.
Debates, essay competitions, creative writing
Department Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn pages etc.

1.2 Cultural Club (Trivim Club)
Faculty Coordinator :- Asst. Prof. Tarun Narnaure, Asst. Prof. Suninda Parmar, Asst. Prof. Megha Chourey

Aim: To preserve cultural values, encourage creativity, and provide a platform for self-expression.

Activities: Singing, dance, drama, cultural evenings, street plays, Reels and online streaming
For Example
Singing, dance, drama, instrumental performances.
Festival celebrations, cultural evenings, and talent showcases.
Street plays and awareness programs.

1.3 STIMULUS Club

 PG Students ( 2nd Year STR/TRE/ENV)
(a) Technical Club (Stimulus Training & Skill Development Cell )

Aim: To enhance technical knowledge, employability, and professional development.


Activities: Skill development, expert lectures, GD, mock interviews, aptitude sessions.
For Example
Skill development programs (software, tools, and modern construction techniques).
Guest lectures, expert talks, and workshops.
Group discussions, mock interviews, and personality development.
Aptitude training and quiz competitions.

(b) Internship & Placement Club (Stimulus Internship & Placement Cell)
Faculty Coordinator :- Prof H K Mahiyar , Er Vivek Tiwari

Aim :To strengthen industry connect and facilitate career opportunities.


PG Students ( 2nd Year STR/TRE/ENV)
Activities: Internship database, industry liaison, pre-placement talks.

For Example:
Creating and maintaining database of internship opportunities.
Coordinating with alumni, industries, and training partners.
Organizing pre-placement talks and training sessions.
Acting as a liaison between students and Training & Placement Cell.

(c) BIS (Manak) Club SC-5389

Aim: To inculcate the practice of standard-based engineering for quality and safety.

Activities: Awareness drives on IS codes, workshops, case studies, competitions.
Awareness drives on IS codes, standards, and practices in civil engineering.
Workshops and case studies on application of BIS standards in design & construction.
Technical competitions based on BIS manuals.

1.4 Sports Club (Dhyan Chand Club)
Faculty Coordinator :- Prof D Dohare, Prof Krishna Pratap Verma, Prof Namrata Khede

Activities: Indoor & outdoor sports, tournaments, fitness initiatives.
Organizing indoor and outdoor sports events.
Departmental tournaments and inter-college competitions.
Fitness awareness and recreation activities.

Junior Manager - PG 1st Year( STR/TRE/Env) &
Student Team Manager -PG 2nd Year ( STR/TRE/Env)
Team Selection Committee - Students Nominated from Each Year having experience of playing any outdoor sports.
Aim: To promote teamwork, discipline, fitness, and sportsmanship spirit.

Governance Structure

Patron: Head of the Department, Civil Engineering & Applied Mechanics.
Faculty Coordinators: One faculty advisor for each club, nominated by HoD.

Student Leadership:
Student Mentor Advisor, PG 1st Year( STR/TRE/Env) & PG 2nd Year ( STR/TRE/Env)
1. President: Final year student.
2. Vice-President: Pre-final year student.
3. Secretary: Pre-final year student. (Responsible for documentation & communication)
4. Joint Secretary: 2nd Year. (02 Students, Responsible for documentation & communication).

TECH TALK VI

Stimulus CEAMD hosted Tech Talk VI featuring IES Officer Vineet Hariyale, who shared insights on UPSC ESE preparation. Held at LT002 on 12th March 2025, the session guided civil engineering aspirants on strategy, motivation, and balancing studies, empowering them toward a successful and impactful career in engineering services.
