Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences

The department of Applied Mathematics was established in 1956 to teach Engineering Mathematics to all undergraduate courses of engineering. M.Sc. course was started in 1970. The department has been continuing with quality teaching in both UG and PG courses. Shortly after M.Sc. course, PhD and research activities were developed with an accelerated speed. A large number of research scholars are working for their PhD degrees. During these years, the department has produced more than 40 PhDs and more than 500 research papers in national international journals. Following the trend of IIT’s, the department has started a new PG course M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics with specialization in Computer Science from July 2001. On account of the progress, the Governing body of the institute has changed the name of the Department to Department of Applied Mathematics and Computational Science. The faculty of department has set trends in pursuing quality research at abstract and concrete level. A number of research publications appear in the journal at National and International level. Faculties have attended Conferences and Seminars at National and International level.Department is also planning to start self-financed course in PG like M.Tech. in Industrial Mathematics. The Department is also engaged in guiding M.Sc. dissertations and Ph.D. scholars.

Vision

Department strives to be internationally recognized for academic excellence through the depth of its teaching and research, and to be relevant through its role in the development of the community it serves.

Mission
