  1. Organized a refresher course on Project Planning and Preparation for the Senior Engineers of PHE Departments of all the states four times. The course was sponsored by CPHEEO, Ministry of Urban Affairs, New-Delhi.
  2. A series of 4 Capacity Building Programs on ‘Water Demand Management in Major Cities of M.P.’ have been organized for Municipal Engineers of Major Cities of M.P. in the year 2006 and 2007. Sponsored by UN Habitat under its water for Asian Cities programs.

  • In 1999 edited a book of collection of papers presented during Public Hearing on "Water Resources and Impact on Malwa Region" which was jointly organized by Peoples' Commission on Environmental Development, New Delhi and Centre for Environmental Protection Research and Development, Indore.
  • Prepared a Monograph on the topic Malwa Nimar Water Partnership highlighting issues and concerns for water problems and plan for development in the drought stricken western part of M.P. in Year 2000. The monograph was presented in Stockholm Water Week, 2000.
  • Recently edited a book in Hindi namely, 'Paryavaran Bodh' for University Course on Environmental Education for all the courses for the Universities of M.P. under the aegis of a voluntary organization, 'CEPRD'.
  • Also co-edited a book on ‘Stochastic Hydrology for Use in Agriculture’ and has been published by Himanshu Publication, Udaipur.
  • Presently working as a managing editor for  a monthly magazine “Paryavaran Vikas Patrika” Published by CEPRD


F. Outreach Activities 

  • Working as a trustee cum Secretary at a Voluntary Organization, ‘Centre for Environmental Planning, Research and Development’ (CEPRD).
  • Actively involved in the issues and problem solutions of water resources problems in the region.
  • Associated with the Investigation work in relation to the failures of 4 stop dams cum bridge sites with the officers of Local Administration for Jilla Panchayat.
  • Assisted the Jilla Panchayat for preparation of a project proposal on, "Revitalization of Water Tanks in Indore District" the estimated cost of project is Rs. 15. Crores.
  • Also one project 'Vikas ki Gangotri' for water conservation works in rural areas having tribal population. These projects are extremely useful in water resources management in the District.
  • In a workshop organized by Indore Municipal Corporation on problems and solution for citizens I presented Status Paper on Water Resources Management aspects of water supply system in the city. This has drawn attention of people as well as administration for the solution of the problems.
  • Attended World Water Symposium 2000 at Stockholm and discussed the issues and concerns of the water problems in Malwa Nimar Region of M.P. Helping people, Govt. and Non Govt. organizations social institutes to adopt the water conservation and artificial recharge.
  • Working as a member of District level committee of Rajiv Gandhi Watershed Development Mission and Stop Water Campaign of Govt. of M.P.
  • Keep on delivering lectures on issues of water conservation and management to public in rural and urban areas.
  • Working as a STA Member for Rural Roads in M.P. I keep on delivering lectures on environment and water management in various meetings and camps organized for women, children and college level students.
  • Also keep writing on the issues of environment and water resources in magazines.
  • Recently working for revival project of River Khan with Prof. Tare of IIT Kanpur. The organization CEPRD is also actively involved in spreading the awareness amongst the masses for reduction of pollution in River Khan.

He was the in-charge of Engineering cell and has been involved in construction activities since 2009 till 2016. He is also associated with Indian Geotechnical Society and presently the chairman of IGS Indore Chapter. He has guided above 40 M.Tech thesis & 1 Ph.D thesis and has also published more than 40 research papers in International & National Journals & Conferences.

About Faculty: Dr. Sunil Kumar Ahirwar is currently working as Associate Professor in Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics Department of SGSITS Indore. He obtained his B.E. (Civil Engg.) in 2004 from MITS Gwalior, M. Tech (Geotechnical Engg.) in 2006 from MNNIT Allahabad and Ph.D. Degree (Civil Engineering) in 2022 from IIT Bombay. He is actively engaged in teaching, research and consultancy. His research interests include Ground Improvement, Soil-Structure Interaction, Railway Geo-technology, Pavement Geo-technology, Environmental Geotechnics, Geo-technology for Waste Materials, Geosynthetics and Reinforced soil Structures.
